I’ve been making more of an effort to eat healthier lately, and these Breakfast Oats have quickly become one of my go-to morning meals. They’re simple, filling, and endlessly customisable — you can mix and match ingredients to suit your taste or whatever’s in the fridge.
Oats are a great source of fibre and protein, low in fat, and keep you full for longer (so you’re less tempted to snack on crisps or chocolate later!). The best part? You can prep them the night before, so breakfast is ready to grab straight from the fridge.
This is my version of overnight oats, but feel free to adapt it — swap milk for almond or coconut milk, use different fruit, or add your favourite toppings. The combinations are endless!
Ingredients:
- A jar (I got mine from IKEA)
- Oats (I got the jumbo oats)
- Natural yoghurt (I used yeo valley)
- Apples (I use red delicious or granny smith)
- Raspberries
- Cinnamon
- Whole cow milk
- Get your jar and open the lid. Add oats to the bottom (roughly I used about 2 handfuls)
- Add half a tablespoon of cinnamon (or if you like cinnamon a full tablespoon).
- Grate the apple with a hand grater or if you have a blender use the grater attachment (roughly I used 2 apples) and add to the jar on top of the oats and cinnamon.
- Add 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt.
- Throw some raspberries on top (and/or some blueberries if you want too).
- Top of the jar with whole cow milk until everything is covered.
- Pop in the fridge overnight and take to work (or eat at home) in the morning.
